My Chat Room Settings - General

This area explains all of the settings that are available to you when setting up your own chat room. You will want to pick a good name that describes the activities in you chat room, as well as placing it in the correct category. You will also want to choose some 'admins' or 'super admins' to help you run the chat room if it is popular.

To edit your chat room, click the 'Action' menu then click 'Create/Edit My Room' on the main friends list window.

Your chat room setup form will be presented.

The 'chat room details':

Chat room name: Pick a chat room name that best describes your activities. Please note that we do not allow you to denigrate or harass or name other users in your chat room title.

Subscription level : Your chat room is free but you can pay to upgrade to get more features.

Welcome message: Describe your activities or list any rules or greetings to users entering your chat room.

Category : Your choice of category and sub-category is probably your most important decision. You can choose by subject or geographic location.

Rating: Room ratings are VERY important. Matrix Messenger takes chat room ratings seriously. If you want a wild west free for all pick an A rating, where anything including nudity goes. A rated rooms are less likely to be complained about for ratings violations. Some people are offended by nudity but don't mind a bit of 'adult language', so we have R rated chat rooms where you can swear like a sailor, but be sure to keep it clean on webcam. Then we have G rated chat rooms for people of all ages, where you may NOT swear or use foul language, and you must keep it clean on webcam. Violating a G rating is taken seriously and you can and will get banned for violating it. If you find it hard to control yourself or your chat room, a G rating is probably not your best choice.

G rated = No foul language in voice or nudity on camera.

R rated = Foul language okay in voice but no nudity on camera (must be over the age of 18).

A rated = Foul language okay in voice and nudity is okay on camera (must be over the age of 18).
